Rebuilding The Dream

2020 has been a challenging year for our Bay Area immigrant communities. From the continued erosion of rights in the Trump era to Covid’s devastating impact on our ethnic communities, API Legal Outreach’s services have been vital this year in protecting the rights of immigrants. As we celebrate our 45th year of operation, we need your financial support more than ever to sustain our work.

As part of our campaign, we invite you to three special events, where we’ll examine issues central to our work and world. Please contribute today to our 2020 fundraising campaign!

Thanks to your support, we have exceeded our fundraising goal for 2020!

Centerpiece Conversations

As part of our Rebuilding the Dream campaign, we hosted three special virtual conversations in December. In these, we examined issues most pressing to our community in 2020 with an eye to how we can begin the road to recovery. Watch any of the videos now with the links below.

When Shelter in Place is No Shelter

When Shelter In Place is No Shelter - Dec. 2 @ 6pm PT

An examination of the rise in domestic violence during Covid

For many of us this year, home has been a safe haven. For many, it’s resulted in violence. We examine how the rise of Covid has led to a rise in domestic abuse within the homes of many of our most vulnerable community members.

A Big Price to Pay

A Big Price to Pay - Dec. 9 @ 6pm PT

A look at the true cost of coronavirus on our ethnic communities

When it comes to the impact of Covid on our local businesses, our Asian ethnic neighborhoods have been hit harder than most. We take a close look at the impact shutdowns have had on Chinatown, Japantown, Little Saigon, SoMA, and beyond. Visit the event page for more info.

A Shared History of Struggle

A Shared History of Struggle - Dec. 16 @ 6pm PT

A dissection of the fights for African American and Asian American rights

In a year when George Floyd and Breonna Taylor’s deaths forced Americans to re-examine their relationships to BIPOC communities, we take a close look at the convergence and divergence, past and present, of the African American and Asian American struggles for civil rights. Visit the event page for more info.

Support us today

Our funding is at risk at a time when demand for our work has never been higher. Please support our work and organization as generously as you can. This year more than ever, every dollar makes a difference.

  • If you were planning to attend our 45th anniversary gala this year, consider making a donation in the amount of your expected cost of attendance (e.g. admission ticket, raffle tickets, plus transportation costs to/from the gala).
  • If you are giving online, please consider covering the processing fee for your donation.
  • If you are unable to donate this year, please support us by forwarding our fundraising campaign to your friends and family, and liking and sharing us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

Your generosity this year will ensure we can serve our community until the next time we can all safely gather again.
