48th Anniversary Celebration – Oct. 20, 2023
Since we last gathered, rights and equalities gained over our 48 years of community work have been taken away. From freedom of reproductive health to LGBQ and transgender equality, to affirmative action necessary to correct a history of discrimination, to respect for all races, to the very integrity of democracy, our rights have never been more at risk. We respond the way we know best: WE UNITE.
We invite you to stand alongside API Legal Outreach to celebrate and honor the champions of justice, spark a new generation of trailblazers, and renew our dedication to justice and equality. Gather with us at Michelin-recognized Harborview Restaurant in San Francisco’s Embarcadero Center for an evening of memorable flavors, inspiring connection, and meaningful support of our vital mission.
Featuring:
1️⃣ Brandon Tsay, our guest of honor and community hero. When the Monterey Park mass shooter entered his family’s ballroom dance studio, a hub to the API senior community, Brandon showed incredible courage and true heroism in disarming the gunman, saving countless lives. APILO is honored to have Brandon in attendance and conversation at Unite for Justice.
2️⃣ Our mistress of ceremony Gia Vang from NBC News Bay Area. The first Hmong American news anchor in a major US market, Gia also is the co-founder of the Very Asian Foundation, which aims to bridge the gap between the AANHPI community and journalism.
3️⃣ Community Honorees including the Korean American Community Foundation, Southeast Asian Development Center, and Minami Tamaki LLP!
4️⃣ Beer Tasting with Dokkabier! This Korean American-led craft brewery has opened eyes and mouths with their award-winning Asian-flavored beers. Their mission: to diversify and expand inclusion in the craft beer industry.
With every contribution, you are directly supporting the provision of free legal and social services to marginalized communities. With your help, we can sow seeds of positive change where they’re needed most. Venue capacity is limited and this event is sure to sell out. Secure your spot today and join APILO as we Unite for Justice!
