Who we are
“Nihonmachi Legal Outreach” was founded in 1975 by volunteer law students who saw a need for multilingual, culturally appropriate services in their community. In 2002, we renamed ourselves Asian Pacific Islander Legal Outreach to reflect our long-standing commitment to the API community. Today, API Legal Outreach’s work extends over six core project areas and our staff speak over a dozen languages and dialects.
